work stations

The IT department provides students and teaching staff with customised and effective IT resources. The department manages an IT system comprising 1000 work stations.Postes informatiques

The ten computer rooms designed for practical work, each equipped with a scanner, provide a total of 100 workstations each under three years old which can be used 24/7. These workstations are configured to run both Linux and Windows. Students have access to other computer rooms and to CD burners.

Each student is given a personal account and an inbox with total storage capacity of 1Giga. The discussion forums and shared storage areas are used on a daily basis. In the event of a problem, students have access to an internal helpdesk.

The School also has licences with the main solutions developers and offers a wide range of software (Microsoft, Sas, Matlab...).

Networks

PortableNetworks are naturally an integral part of the school. Fibre optics, terrestrial networks and lasers are the main networks used on the campus.

All the main student meeting areas are equipped with a local wireless network in accordance with the 802.11g standard: These include the forum, lecture halls, Multimedia Library, Management Building and a section of the cafeteria.

In order to be connected to the outside world, Telecom SudParis has a gigabit connection to the Evry metropolitan network, made up of 70km of fibre optic cables. The network links Telecom SudParis to the Génopole®, the University of Evry and the Ecole des Mines.
The commercial internet is accessed via a connection to the Renater network.
