About Telecom SudParis

Community involvement

Telecom SudParis has undertaken a number of initiatives to attract students from different social backgrounds.

The "Why not me?" initiative

Launched on 6 June 2005, this partnership agreement with the Lycée Robert Doisneau in Corbeil-Essonne aims to make higher education accessible to students from priority education areas. During their 3 years in high school, the students are visited from staff and students from the School who help them to become familiar with the concept of higher education and benefit from access to a culture of study (discussions in a foreign language, debates on societal topics, cultural visits, etc)

This programme, dedicated to students from disadvantaged urban areas, brings together 3 ministery offices, 46 high-schools in urban areas, 22 engineering schools, 13 management schools and 8 compagnies from telecom sector. The agreement signed by Telecom SudParis has been the subject of a convention drawn up between SFR, the local administrative authority (Prefecture), the local education authority and 3 high schools in the Essonne, the region where Telecom SudParis is based. After a 2 year technical qualification and specific preparatory classes, selected students are eligible for an engireeing degree programme.
For Telecom SudParis, a founder partner of this initiative, the aim is to “combat the accusation of elitism in the Grandes Ecoles”, to quote the School’s Director, Pierre Rolin, “and to enable talented students to flourish, irrespective of their background”.
Launched in 2005, the scheme now supports more than a hundred students across the whole of France.
