An essential element in the strategy of Télécom SudParis: the development of the international dimension
The development of a strong international dimension at Telecom SudParis is an essential part of our global strategy. Not only have we developed a truly international campus with over 50 nationalities represented, we have also established student and faculty exchange agreements (96) with international universities on all five continents. Our research faculty is implicated in many cross-border research projects and PHD programs while our large network of industrial partners offers many opportunities to our students through international internship and work placement offers.
The partnerships in the academic and research areas between Telecom SudParis and foreign higher education institutions is constantly growing. 4 new agreements were signed during 2011, allowing the exchange of students and teachers and, in some cases the awarding of a dual degree.
However, we are also fully aware that internationalisation goes far beyond the simple possibility for student exchange or faculty cooperation. Our future graduates will be required to operate more and more in a multicultural work environment where their ability to co-operate with others and manage an international team will be essential elements of success.
Efficient "performance" in the global market is based on the ability to adapt to a wide range of communication situations and intercultural competence has thus become as essential as linguistic competence in today's multicultural environment.
With this in mind Telecom SudParis has integrated the international aspect into its programs and we offer a wide range of possibilities to enable our students to develop their understanding of the international context.
Our students are required to develop a high level of competency in two foreign languages; courses in intercultural awareness and international management are an integral part of our programs and a minimum period of two months experience in a foreign country is an obligatory part of their education.
Perhaps the best example of our international approach can be found in the testimony of our students.
