Tutorials in electronic at home

Through a partnership with National Instruments, the students of Telecom SudParis can follow remote their tutorials in electronic.

A priori, nothing less virtual than tutorials in electronic. You must be present in the laboratory to develop circuits of diodes, capacitors, use generators and oscilloscopes. When a tutorial lab can welcome twelve people maximum, how to train effectively a class of 200 students? Since the beginning of 2008, and through a partnership with National Instruments, one of the largest manufacturers of measuring instruments in the world, the engineering students have new ways to learn, deepen, re-handling and even from their room or the other end of the world!

Each manipulation, prepared on the laboratory bench, is connected to a server, a PC with a web interface. In TP, the changes of parameters and display of measurements are done online. Later, the same manipulation can be repeated from the student's room at the Maisel, the student may change the signal emitted by the generator. A few hundred meters further, the operation will take place in the lab, and the actual measurement taken by an oscilloscope, broadcast to the student. A camera, driver, can see the room. The system opens the way for further work: it is easy to repeat manipulation, to explore all parameters. Many students can connect at the same time and a chat (instant messaging) allows the collaborative work. "This is not to lose touch with practice," says Alain Lebegue, the head of the course, "but to offer additional opportunities." The early returns are positive.
